Interesting

Curly hair is a great thing if you have long hair, but I as you all know cut my hair because it is easier to manage. I have naturally curly hair and straighten it every day since it is short and amazingly froish, but today I didn't have enough time. So the result was me wearing it curly in a pony tail with my short under hairs hanging out everywhere. I felt a bit self conscious at first, but by the end of the day I had gotten numerous compliments on my hair. I guess this means I wasted many an hour doing my hair when I didn't really need to.  Ha ha ha....such is life!

RIZAD radio show

For all of you night owls who want to listen to some sweet jams, my friend Ashley does a radio show Thursday nights from 12-3 A.M. You can listen by going to www.kuoi.org and clicking on listen now/play. I promise you won't be disappointed.
mmmm....doughnuts! Today I was craving one of those 7-11 doughnuts that tastes like you are taking a big bite out of a heavenly chocolate cake, but sad to say, there were no 7-11's in sight on my drive to work. But much to my surprise, when I got to work....there it was....like it was destiny! A doughnut...who would have thought something so small could bring me so much happiness :) Thanks to the great people I work with!

Tonight's FHE helped me to remember some moments in my life when I had a good laugh at myself. So, for your reading pleasure.....here they are.

THE WEDGED BAGEL
I had just gotten home from my mission and was still adjusting to "normal" life as a college student. I lived a few blocks from campus and was walking to school (I think it was the first week or so of fall semester). I decided since it was nice out and I didn't have far to walk that I would wear some fancy schmancy shoes that had a wedge. The downside to living where I lived was that you had to cross a really busy highway to get to school. They put a crosswalk in, but there was no light so it was hit or miss if cars would really stop or not. I was coming up to the cross walk as a group of students were crossing. I was five or so seconds behind and thought I would try to make it with the group to be safe. As I stepped out into the street I realized that I had terribly misjudged the size of the curb and thanks to my wedges was now hurling myself into the street. I had decided that morning to eat on the run and had grabbed a bagel for my breakfast. At the moment I went flying into the street I said so long to Mr. Bagel as my face said hello to the pavement. I was now rolling along the crosswalk with my bagel as drivers and passerbyers watched in utter amazement I am sure. I picked myself up as fast as I could without making eye contact with anyone, hoping that I didn't know anyone around me. Once I crossed the street the people in front of me silenced their laughter just enough to ask me if I was okay. Needless to say, I switched to flats after that.

ICECAPADES
I was student teaching last semester in what could be labeled the frozen tundra of Idaho. I never fully experienced the severity of the weather there thankfully, as my last day was the day their winter started with three feet of snow. However I did have to deal with my share of cold. My parents gave me a car last summer since I would be student teaching and it was and still is my goal to keep it as good as new. It is the first time in my life that I have actually cared about washing my car. I would go years without washing my cars in high school and on occasion it would get so bad that somedays I would look outside to find my dad washing my car for me. But this time it was going to be different. I was bound and determined to keep my car shiny and new.

One night after my class at the college I was driving my 30 miles back to my house that I was staying in and thought that my car could use a good cleaning. Using my time management skills I figured I could fit it in before I got home. I went through the car wash and felt pretty good about myself....until the next morning. I went to go and start my car and much to my surprise, the door was stuck. Yeah, that is right, it was frozen shut. I sat their yanking on the handle trying to get the door open when at last I heard a crunch. The door opened. I started the car and went back inside. When I came back out the same thing happened. The door was frozen shut, but this time the keys were inside and the car was running. At this point I am panicking a bit, but I decide to try the other doors. The last door I try (my passenger door) opened. So I crawled in and drove to school. Once I reached the school I tried to get out the drivers side door with no luck and had to crawl over the passenger seat to get out. Needless to say, after all of that I was late to school. I explained to my mentor teacher what happened and she laughed and laughed. Then she proceeded to tell every one in the teacher's lounge at lunch and they had a good laugh as well. By the time school ended I thought that I had learned my lesson and decide to try the door again since the sun had come out and warmed things up. It opens this time and I wipe all the water out of the door and adjacent areas. Problem solved right?

Uh, no. The next day I can get the car door open, but it won't shut. So I get in and lock the door. I arrive at school and yet again, I can't get out of the drivers side door and end up crawling over the passenger's seat. As I am crawling out I look over and the principal is standing their staring at me and smiling. I tried not to die of embarrassment and say, "oh, my doors froze last night." He laughed at me and said, yeah that happens sometimes. He sure knew how to curb my embarrassment, and I am glad to know I am not the only one this has happened to. So lesson learned. Don't wash your car during the winter unless you take the necessary precautions.
