Things that make me laugh

I decided to keep a list of things that I see around SLC that make me laugh....It will continue to grow the more I see :D

1. A man in an electric wheel chair pulling a man in a regular wheel chair down the street

2. The mascot for Jordan High School....what is a beetdigger anyway?

3. Underwear socks!!!!! (See pic below) These are the greatest!

4. Caught in the act....random nose picking

5. I was in the temple the other day when I heard a temple patron say, "uh, can I help you with something?" in a strange voice.  I peered behind me and noticed a young man who had to be a pre-mi trying to follow me and my roommates into the women's locker room. He was obviously lost, and when he noticed what had happened he turned bright red and stuttered...."uh yeah, I think I am lost." We all had a good laugh!

Things Will Work Out

My whole life is centered around following the promptings I get from the spirit. This means that at any given moment I may have to make some big changes in my life. Like moving to Utah for example. I was pretty scared about the whole thing. I just graduated and that meant that I needed a real full time job to support myself, and the economy is not so bueno right now. Moving to a new place with no money and no job....sounds great hu? That's what I thought too, but I knew that the spirit told me that I needed to move to Utah, so I did it. After a couple of days of job searching I thought I would never find anything, and I was really discouraged. But then Heavenly Father gave me a gentle reminder that ALL was going to work out. The gentle reminder was this quote from President Hinckley on my friends fridge.  

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It will all work out. If you do your best, it will all work out. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us if we put our trust in Him, if we pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings. He will hear our prayers."

After I read this I knew that I didn't need to worry. Just like so many times before, it would all work out. He knows who we are, He knows what is best for us. We just gotta have the faith.

Finding Joy in the Journey

"God dumps the most manure on the flowers he loves the best." This was quoted in fast and testimony meeting today and I thought....wow, this fits life. I have come to realize that trials are a must. When I look back on all the trials that I have faced and the difference in me from before and after I am amazed. I always think- man, Heavenly Father sure knows what he is doing. I have come to the realization that when a trial comes into my life that it is Heavenly Father's way of preparing me for something. Making me grow and stretch out of my comfort zone. He is refining me in the refiners fire, making me who He knows I can be. Each time I face a trial I always look for the positive in it. Doing this has proved to make life more enjoyable and trials more bearable for me. Just like 2 Nephi 2:11 says: "For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, my (daughter), righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life, neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility." So if you are facing a trial in your life, remember this...God dumps the most manure on the flowers he loves best :)

People Watching

One of my favorite pastimes....sitting back and watching how people act with one another. Tonight was like striking gold! I went to an institute activity for New Years and wow. There had to have been literally a couple of thousand people there easily. I went there with the intentions to dance it up with my friend, but got easily distracted by my people watching abilities. Dancing in itself makes people do strange things, and I am no exception to that. So the following is not me passing judgement. I am always game for learning some sweet new interpretive dance moves. There was a group of about four guys who were flailing themselves around on the dance floor smacking people in hopes of attracting some gals. And attract gals they did. Then there was a couple trying their hand at some I guess you could say Mormon style freak dancing when a rapish song came on. I totally wish I had my video camera with me, but sadly I didn't. It would have made a great youtube dance video. There was also a guy from England (I think) dancing like he was shaking some kind of bottle in his hands and passing it through and around his body until he threw it away.  I tried to learn some moves from him cause they were freaking sweet....but I am pretty sure it will take some time for me to perfect that sweetness. There were people crowd surfing and being thrown in the air, only to kick people in their heads on the way down. And then....there was my friend Jess. She is the most crazy dancer I have ever seen in my life, and believe me....I have seen a lot. She has the moves of an eighties dancer meets rock band, if you can imagine. She attracted gazes from every direction.  I think that if I take these moves I was so fortunate to gaze upon tonight and mix them all into one, I will be the next DTV dance star! :)
